I have 2 passions, being outside and making things. Even as a child, I have always loved the process of weaving texture and color together. To start with something small, say a knot or a stitch, and repeat a process until a product has emerged has always seemed magical to me. As a youth, this desire took the form of macramé, embroidery and needlepoint with the nature outside my door as my inspiration. More recently, this process has led me to the world of bead weaving and jewelry making, and the world outside my door has evolved to the world outside my own.
My current inspiration comes from my time spent in France. The beige and black worn by so many of the Parisian women, the colors and feel of stained glass from the many cathedrals, and the unique findings that can be found at the famous Marché aux Puces de Saint-Ouen are the images that play in my head when I start the process. My materials of choice are seed beads (the smaller the better), color pigment, shards of glass, tiny gemstones, paint and oil.
My work can be found in art/craft fairs throughout the mid-atlantic region. Visit Claire's etsy shop as well!
