An evolving love of metal.
A metals art class at a local Art Center transformed my life. I changed direction and went back to school for a BFA concentrating in metal. I soon discovered I was a 3D person and not a painter and felt more comfortable with a hammer in my hand then a pencil. Fate took me full circle to teaching metals classes where I took my first class and selling my jewelry at their gallery shop.
Metal is my passion. Working directly with metal, I fabricate all my pieces from sterling silver wire or sheet metal. Using hammers, saws, heat and drills, I coax the metal into delicate pieces for adornment. I find it a challenge to take cold, hard silver and manipulate it so that it is transformed into my design ideas. Using metal alone requires me to create interest in a piece using shape, texture, pattern, balance, and proportion.
My designs are classic, modern and minimalistic. Each piece is personally handcrafted and therefore unique. I am inspired by geometric shapes and their relationships to one another. Many pieces are hammered which creates facets to reflect light causing a sparkling affect. I am very conscious of how my designs will be worn and enjoyed by my customers.
