The Swarthmore Farmers Market is getting a bit of a face-lift this year. After 9 great seasons under the watchful eye of Marty Spiegel, the SFM will be under new management. Andy Rosen has assembled a group of passionate supporters of local agriculture to lead the SFM into the next decade of its existence. Exciting times are around the corner in the borough of Swarthmore and the SFM is not immune to the buzzing energy that will transform our wonderful town into something…well, more wonderful and welcoming!
So who are we? In the coming weeks, we hope to profile some of our leaders and advisors so you can better know the volunteers committed to bringing you fresh local and wholesome products. For now, we want you to know exactly what our market is about and why we care about supporting local agriculture.
The Swarthmore Farmers Market was created to provide a shopping experience for local, small-scale agricultural and specialty products, and to connect the community and local farmers in a mutually beneficial arrangement. Our aim is to enhance the quality of life in Swarthmore, support the health and well-being of residents, and promote a healthy and robust regional food system.
The Swarthmore Farmers Market is a market that operates weekly throughout the growing season and is operated through a collaboration between Swarthmore Town Center and Farm to City. The market sells a variety of fresh, locally grown food as well as homemade items sourced from local ingredients; provides a fun and interactive venue for community gathering and education; contributes to a vibrant and thriving town center; and creates demand in the community for local agricultural and specialty products.
See you at the market!
